Pugnacious DiMarco has suffered heartbreak in at least two majors, having been beaten in play-offs at both the 2004 PGA Championship and this year's Masters. He is likely to have gained, rather than lost, from those defeats, however, for the experience could help put him back on track towards finally breaking into that exclusive club in the future. Instantly recognisable by that awkward, but effective, 'claw' putting grip, his very solid record at the US Open and Ryder Cup matches suggested that he would be aiming much higher this year, but he missed the cut in both the US Open and the US PGA and could only finish 67th at The Open at St Andrews. He bounced back, however, with a 2nd place in the WGC-NEC Invitational, one of the season's four second-tier majors, and has had at least 5 other top five finishers.
